Who should attend?

The two day Paediatric First Aid course has been designed for learners with a responsibility for the care of children and babies on a professional level. The qualification will give the learner the knowledge and practical ability to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations. This qualification fulfils the requirements of the Department of Education’s statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. The course will cover how to help a child who: Is Unresponsive And Breathing Is Unresponsive And Not Breathing, Including How To Use An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Is Choking Is Bleeding Is Suffering From Shock Is Burnt Or Scald Is Having A Seizure. Is Having An Allergic Reaction Including Anaphylaxis Is Choking The course will also cover: Head, Neck And Back Injuries Fractures Foreign Bodies Diabetic Emergencies Asthma Meningitis Febrile Convulsions And Electrical Incidents The course also includes details on accident reporting and administering medication for those working in a childcare setting. Candidates will need to be aged 16 plus and physically able to participate. Summative practical assessment is ongoing by the instructor along with written assessment and will lead to a FAA level 3 award in Paediatric First Aid meeting the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations and is Ofqual accredited. This course can be delivered at our training centre or at your workplace if more convenient.
